Most moms work a full-time job but it is in your good-hearted and caring nature to keep the whole family happy too. Doing everything from cooking love-filled dinners to helping the kids with homework and making sure hubby’s clothes are ready for work in the morning. Being a mom is hard work!

And this is only the tip of the mom-daily-schedule iceberg, so you know that it is time for you to take a break and dedicate some ‘mom time’ to your schedule. Try one of these ten fun and rejuvenating ideas for taking a ‘mom time out’.

1. Read a Book

If you are a book lover, then there is surely a stack or shelf of books gathering dust in the corner because you simply never get time to read anymore.

Set aside 30 minutes to an hour every day, or every second day, to read a book that you have been putting off. If you aren’t much of a bookworm then pick up a magazine!

2. Do some Online Shopping

You’re probably thinking that you go shopping almost every day but the grocery store does not count!

While not being able to visit all of your favourite stores, there are infinite shopping possibilities online. And, even if you do not buy anything, you can still enjoy adding items to your wishlist and doing some ‘window shopping’.

3. Take an Online Fitness/Art Class

As a mom, you get very little time for yourself but you can definitely make time once a week to take part in an online class that you are interested in – and you should!

Whether you choose to start doing yoga or take up an online art class, the important thing is that you are doing something that you enjoy. The Internet is filled with hundreds of cool workout routines and craft videos – all you need to do is pick one that you will enjoy!

4. Have Lunch with a Friend over Skype

Spending time with someone who does not want to talk about Paw Patrol or the monthly budget report, can be the small break that you need.

While you are unable to make official lunch dates at this time, does not mean that you cannot have lunch with your friends at all. Make arrangements to have lunch with a friend over Skype to do some much-needed catching up!

5. Learning a New Skill

Has there been something that you have always wanted to learn how to do but have never had the time to learn? Set aside a few hours a week to learning a new skill.

There are ample tutorials on YouTube that teach you everything from playing the guitar to knitting or sculpting and so much more!

6. Plan a Spa Day at Home

Sometimes all you need is to set some time aside for some good old fashioned self-care. Draw yourself a warm bath, pull out the candles and the incense and just relax. Maybe give yourself a manicure or pedicure – or both.

Maybe you can even ask hubby to help you out with a relaxing back massage or foot rub!

7. Start a Vegetable or Herb Garden

Sometimes you don’t need to leave home to take a break. Why not start a small vegetable or herb garden? You can spend some time outside, soak up some Vitamin D and get your fingers dirty.

The best part is that you can use some of the fresh vegetables or herbs that you grow fin your cooking!

8. Do some Self-Baking

Moms are always tasked with cooking and baking what the family wants to eat or snack on. But today is your day so bake your favourite treats or cook your favourite meal – today everyone will fall in with what mom wants to eat.

This is also a great opportunity to try out some of those tasty recipes that you have saved on Facebook!

9. Binge-Watch Netflix

There’s nothing better than just having a lazy day. Keep the PJ’s on, make a bowl of popcorn, snuggle up with a cozy blanket and choose a series to binge-watch.

There are so many amazing shows and movies on Netflix, we are sure that there is something that will catch your eye!

10. Start Keeping a Journal or Online Blog

A major part of relaxing is letting go of stress. And one of the best ways to do this is by writing it down. Buy yourself a pretty journal and set aside 20 minutes every day to write down your thoughts.

Many moms have taken to an online platform to share their thoughts. Learning how to blog can be a great way to escape your busy schedule for a while!
