History
In 1981, Mr Tony York was inspired to use wood to create beautiful household products and so the House of York business was established in Pinetown. In 1984, the business was moved to Pietermaritzburg and remained as a family business until 1997, where it became part of the Megacor Group. In 1998, House of York became the member of the Steinhoff International Group of companies, who managed the business for the period: 1998 – 2008.
In 2008, Eveready South Africa acquired House of York and the factory was moved to Port Elizabeth where it still thrives today. Using the legacy of House of York's quality and combining it with new and inspired contemporary designs we have created a product which lives creativity. The House of York range is regularly updated in line with international styles and contemporary design trends.
