6 special (and inexpensive) ways to show your love this Valentine’s Day - love

Valentine’s Day is that special time of the year when we go out of our way to show how much we appreciate and adore our significant other. Even with the scent of fresh flowers and sweet love in the air, there can also be a hint of stress if ideas are short and budgets are tight. Show your love this Valentine’s Day without giving a moment’s worry to your wallet by trying these six lovely yet economical ideas.

  1. Take care of their to-do list

Make their day by taking care of items on their to-do list. From washing the dishes and taking the kids to school to shopping for groceries and attending to the laundry. These everyday tasks may seem mundane, but seeing to them will go a long way to lighten your partner’s load. The best part about these simple acts of service? They don’t require much at all – just a willing heart to show them how much you care.

  1. Make their gift by hand

The best gifts are those that come straight from the heart (and hands!). Instead of spoiling them with an unsurprising bunch of flowers, chocolates or soft toys – as nice as they may be – consider putting something special together yourself. One cute example can be seen below: these printable ‘love coupons’ entitle your partner to various special activities like a foot massage or dinner for two and can be redeemed at a later date of their choosing.

  1. Bake something sweet

Sometimes baked treats just say it best. Why not say “I love you” with a delicious batch of biscuits, brownies or cupcakes. For an extra sweet surprise, make them in your sweetheart’s favourite flavour or even in the shape of hearts. If you have little ones, this can also serve as a fun kitchen activity making special treats for mom, dad or friends.

  1. Surprise them with breakfast-in-bed

If the way to their heart is through their stomach, start Valentine’s Day in the best way by surprising them with a scrumptious breakfast in bed. For guaranteed smiles all ’round, serve up your tasty goodies and beverages on a House of York Colour Tray or Multipurpose Breakfast Tray which can be propped up safely on the bed thanks to its foldable legs.

  1. Plan a romantic night in

While many couples will be heading out for a fancy restaurant dinner, do something different and plan some romantic time with your loved one behind closed doors. Even though you’ll be at home, there are many ways you can make a special occasion of it – from lit, scented candles and a homemade dinner for two to cuddling on the couch while having a romance movie marathon.

  1. Set aside some pamper time

Give them that loved-up feeling by helping them to wind down after a long day. Spreading a little love this Valentine’s Day can really be as easy and cost-effective as running a bubble bath, giving a massage or allowing them to have some quiet alone time while you take care of things around the house. As someone wise once said, “It is the little things that mean a lot more in love.”
