5 Fun and Kiddie-Friendly Activities for the Easter Holidays

5 Fun and Kiddie-Friendly Activities for the Easter Holidays - easter holiday activities kids

There’s only a hop, skip and a jump ’till Easter and all the family gatherings, feasts and egg-shaped treats that come along with it. But that’s not all that’s coming ’round – the first school holidays for the year are also almost here! Which is why we’ve gone on a hunt of our own to find and share some fun activities that will help keep the kids happily busy during this time. Have a read below and let us know which activities you’ll be trying with your little ones.

  1. Get crafty

Make all that free time count by getting creative with fun crafts, like these Marbled Easter Eggs which are made with shaving cream. The kids will love getting messy and experimenting with colours before being left in awe of the psychedelic finished product! This craft can be made with ease by using a handful of supplies you probably already have at home. Watch the how-to video below, courtesy of goodhousekeeping.com.

  1. Bake something sweet

Easter is a great time to indulge in baked goodies and sometimes half the fun isn’t in the eating, but rather in the actual baking. Get your little ones in on the fun by letting them help as you bake some sweet Easter-themed treats. We especially love the idea of these miniature Rice Krispie ‘egg nests’ – which can easily be replicated into chocolate, cupcake or cheesecake form as shown below.

  1. Host a unique Easter Egg Hunt

Egg hunts are the one activity that all kids look forward to come Easter Sunday. Why not change things up a bit by planning an egg hunt with a difference? One idea is to have it the night before, using flashlights and glow-in-the-dark plastic eggs filled with small trinkets. You could even turn it into a real scavenger hunt by making the kids follow clues from one egg to the next before the ultimate find: a fully-loaded Easter basket!

We’re also swooning over this cute Balloon Egg Hunt idea, perfect for first-time hunters.

  1. Play a game

Up the fun factor by playing a few games in addition to the traditional egg hunt. Here are three options which are not only exciting to play but easy to put together, too.

“Pin the Tail on the Bunny” puts a fun spin on a traditional favourite and will have the little ones coming back over and over again. All you’ll need to do is print out the free template found here, then use some colourful washi tape to secure it to the wall. The tail can be cut out from paper and decorated with some glued-on cotton balls.

The entire family will want in on this outdoor bowling alley game. To put this together, decorate some empty food cans with pretty gift wrap and have a sufficient supply of rubber or tennis balls. Let each player have three attempts at toppling the pyramid and a tasty prize for the tin can bowling champion! Source: Asda Magazine

For something fun and educational, consider this game which involves counting and pairing the same colour paper eggs. This is an especially great activity for toddlers. Grab the free printable for this game here.

  1. Give back

Not everyone will have the pleasure of enjoying the taste of the season or have family and friends to share it with. Why not identify a safe place to drop off some Easter treats to those less fortunate? It could be at your local orphanage, old age home or centre for the homeless. This simple act of kindness can teach kids to find joy in giving and show them just how rewarding it can be.
