History

The House of York business was established in Pinetown in 1981 by Mr Tony York. In 1984 the business was moved to Pietermaritzburg and remained as a family business until 1997 where it became part of the Megacor Group.

In 1998 House of York became the member of the Steinhoff International Group of companies, who managed the business for the period 1998 - 2008

Manufactured from superior grade timber, sourced locally from ecologically sound and managed forests, our products adhere to high quality specifications. In addition, our timber is certified in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council (F.S.C.).

As a result of on-going market reviews and research, the House of York range is regularly updated in line with international styles and contemporary design trends.

In September 2008 House of York was aquired by EVEREADY (Pty) Ltd,the only Manufacturer of batteries in Southern Africa. The entire factory was moved from Pietermaritzburg to the Eveready plant in December 2008.

EVEREADY is a unique, Proudly South African company and is set to leverage its Sales and Marketing, distribution and manufacturing capabilities to grow the House of York range of products.
